This is simply not true, especially when it comes to Mini-pet distribution. What could a player do to get a Kuunavang or Varesh mini? Now that the promotions have passed, the Asura, Destroyer, Grawl, Cetradon, etc. are completely unavailable to players except through trade. There are plenty of minis that are available only through player trade at any given moment in time. After the event is over, the two new celestial minis will be in the same category.
The fact of the matter is, Minis have no effect on game-play, and ANet has no problems making them available in limited quantities or time frames. And rightly so, as a general principle.
I am a little bit disappointed by this Mini trade in. I only had one mini from last year (from fortunes, didn't have factions at the time). But I have no problem with them wanting to handle it this way, I have all weekend to grab a few pigs from lower sellers and get the mini. Already got 2 at 10k each, and I'm not particularly in a rush to be the first to have the new mini.

I'm not sure how many pigs I have left, but probably not enough. I am not overly upset about, but slightly aggravated.... Yes I gave definitely more than 10 pigs away, to guildies and strangers that missed the event last year.
in the end.... the message they are sending is.... if you are nice, you'll get screwed over by us... which is quite different from what they were saying last year....
This is what Gaile said last year
AND this
This is last years Mini Pig Give Away Thread 4 pages.
in the end... those that chose to hoard the extra pigs last year, instead of joining in the great community effort (/sarcasm) and giving them away to friends or players that had missed out on the event.... are the ones that will get rewarded
As much as over the past 33 months I have not always cared for some decisions made by ANET, I have never really complained ( ok here and there :P ) This time, though, it really feels like a slap on the face!
in the end... life goes on

Yes, seriously, it's not about the pig at this point... it's the contradiction!! I am just really disappointed how quickly we forget
I don't think Gaile is being a hypocrite, it's not her decision to trade 5 pigs for 1. I am sure she did think it was a great thing to do.What we did last year WAS an amazing community effort. I got a few PM's from people that wanted pigs, and I gave them away. I don't regret that at all. It made their day back then, and I wouldn't change that.
What bugs me is how quickly they forgot that most people did give the pigs away. Those that hoarded them, instead of sharing them, are now the ones being rewarded.

Money is besides the point, If the collector accepted 100k instead of a item that only dropped one year ago I wouldn't mind it.

The anniversary minis you have a change to get. The promotion pets you could also get if you wanted at the time of their release.
This is not the case with celestial pig.
Have fun,

Ya it so crappy that last year there was only Mini Pig that it and now there a Celestial Mini Pig for 5 pigs. Though the people got alot of them sold 500g-3k back then. Ya they be 30k now for the Celestial Mini Pig Trader. Wonder how much is those Celestial Mini Pigs and Rats be.

Kuunavang and Varesh are the CE minis. And you had a chance to get the mini pigs the first time around (last year), and by extension the Celestial pig by saving them. There is nothing you can do short of trading in game right now to get the new pig, but there was a way to get it without trading .. just like the promotional minis (albeit one that was unexpected and contrary to what many people did, hence the slight disappointment).
My other point (that you didn't comment on) is that Minis are so entirely optional that does it really make a difference if some minis are hard to get to the point of limited availability? Or if you have to trade to get some of them? If you can't get a mini celestial pig, does it really matter?

The celestial pig won't exactly win any graphics award nor win miss pig universe. Miniature is like a vice-president, the most important useless thing there is around at the moment.
If ANET pursue this line of idea, 10 more years of GW1, will make a complete collection of Chinese Zodiac menagerie.
Anyway, gratz to those who got their Celestial pig.

Unfortunately the above listed people seem to be in the majority now, and any sensible discussion of topics like this always degenerate into flaming or QQing. As some love to say here, we have to just "deal with it".

Your post really doesn't address the problem with this thread.
Rahja is a very charitable person, this is a given.
But this thread is a complaint reneging on this charity.
It's not about greed, it's just rather ridiculous, if you must know.
ANet does most things wrong, but this is not their fault.
This is your fault for underestimating standard human greed, in comparison to one's own charity.
It's not trolling 'Friday', despite your oversensitive defense of this thread.

No it isn't. This is a thread calling attention to ANet's immensely poor grasp of the dynamics of their own game.

You can emphasize is, re-emphasize it, and put it on a pedestal for all I care. It's a pointless remark and it falls short of having anything to do with what this thread is about.
This thread isn't about what players did, do or feel. It's about how ANet failed.

I think i agree with the poster earlier who said that this is just a way for Anet to get rid of their extra pigs and manipulate the economy.

And why can't you (gracefully or otherwise, I don't care) understand that regardless of whatever useless platitudes you have to offer, it's still not a good idea to go out of your way to screw over charitable people?
